Importing teams

Teams are the foundation of everything else in ScoreLM -- schedules, standings, stats. This walkthrough covers adding teams manually, building rosters, and what's coming for CSV imports.

1

Open the Teams section in the admin panel

Sign in to your admin dashboard and click 'Teams' in the left sidebar. This is your master list of teams across every season -- adding a team here makes it available to assign to any season later.

2

Click 'New team' and fill in the basics

Give the team a name, short name (used on scorebugs and standings tables -- 4 letters is ideal), primary and secondary colors, and a logo. PNG with a transparent background works best for logos because they look clean on dark scorebug overlays.

Add the roster

Open the team you just created and click 'Add player'. You'll need a name and jersey number at minimum. Position, height, headshot, and date of birth are optional but they show up on player profiles, so it's worth filling them in if you have the info.

Repeat for every team in your league

Yes, this is the slow part. For an 8-team league with 10 players each, expect 30 to 45 minutes the first time. The good news: you only do this once per team. Players move with their team across seasons unless you manually move them.

Assign teams to a season

Go to Seasons, open the season you want, and click 'Add teams'. Pick from the master team list. A team can be in multiple seasons at the same time -- useful if you run a regular season and a tournament side by side.

CSV import (coming soon)

We're building a CSV importer for leagues that have rosters in a spreadsheet already. The format is straightforward: one row per player with columns for team, name, number, and position. We'll publish a template here when it ships. If you have a giant import to do right now, email us and we'll do a one-time import on our end.
